Book a place on one of NIACE and Skill's September seminars designed for staff working in the learning and skills sector.

The Equality Act will be implemented in October 2010 replacing the DDA. It introduces new anti discrimination provisions as well as strengthening the duty to make reasonable adjustments. The seminars aim to give delegates the knowledge and confidence to implement the new legislation with particular reference to disability.

Annual post-16 conference
Tuesday 2 November 2010, London

Skill's popular annual post-16 sector conference is the major event for those in the wider further education sectors who are involved in the policy and delivery of provision for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities. 

The conference will cover flexible opportunities for disabled people to develop skills and progress, the new Government’s commitment, the Equality Act and the impact of recent changes on the work of the sector. 

This conference is aimed at key staff including principals, senior managers and key staff across the post-16 sector including local authorities, further education, sixth form colleges, school sixth forms, adult and community learning, work-based learning, specialist colleges, Connexions and Next Step, Young People’s Learning Agency and Skills Funding Agency.

Annual higher education conference
Monday 29 - Tuesday 30 November, Leicester

This annual event updates UK staff in higher education on policy and practice in relation to planning and delivering services for disabled students.  Issues to be covered in the conference will include the Equality Act and how to ensure quality and equality in these challenging times.

As well as a range of expert speakers, delegates will participate in two sessions of workshops which will cover a diverse range of topics relevant to staff in the higher education sector.
